Softly we tremble tonight,
Picture perfect fading smiles are all that's left in sight.
I said I'd never leave, you'll never change
I'm not satisfied where I'm at in life..

A sharp crack resounded throughout the room as I stood glaring at (name). Her eyes were so soft, so inviting, yet distant. She bent down to try to pick up the pieces of the picture frame I just threw. Our smiling faces shown back, mocking me.. We had been happy once, but now, everything had just.. Changed.
"Romano, you didn't have to break it," she whispered softly.
My hand angrily clentched the small silver object lodged in between my fingers as my body began to shake with rage.
"You didn't have to break my heart.." I retorted spitefully.
She turned to me, beautiful eyes welling with tears. "Romano, I can't do this anymore.. I'm not happy."
"I ask you to marry me," my voice began cracking. "To stay with me forever and then you pull this?! You've changed, ragazza."

"I've changed?! Romano, you're the one that changed! You can't just ignore me the past two weeks, then come out of
the blue and ask me to marry you and expect me to just say yes right on the spot!"
This was about it for me. I loved this woman more than life itself. Yeah, I'd made mistakes but who hasn't?
"So what? I made some mistakes.. But I want to make everything right, ragazza!"
She folded her arms. "And marriage is suppose to just do that?"
Something snapped in me. "Bella, ti amo.. I can't lose you. No matter what it costs!"

We made plans to grow old,
Believe me, there was truth in all those stories that I told.
Lost in a simple game.. Cat and mouse.
Are we the same people as before this came to light?

"(Name), you said you wanted to be with me forever! What happened to all of that, was it all just lies?"
She stared at the floor, refusing to meet my eye. "Romano, I still love you.. I just can't be with you anymore."
Fury bubbled up inside of me until I finally let it all loose. Tears began to fall from my eyes as I realized my defeat.
"I've been chasing you for so long! Every time I even get close to you, you run faster!" I let the tears fly. "Each and
every time I told you I love you, I meant it. You tell me you love me, but then you'd turn around and just leave me?!"
"I need to go, Romano," she breathed, grabbing her suitcase and walking around me out the door. I grabbed her hand
just as she passed by me. She looked deep into my hazel eyes, pain and anguish from all the years radiating through
her own eyes. I managed to say one word. "Please.."
She shook her head and slipped her hand out of mine, turning her back on me and the life we had together.

I stood frozen, eyes glued to her form, trying to take all this in. I needed to let her go. I'd hurt her horribly and she
didn't deserve it. I fell to my knees as the realization began to pour in, that I'd lost my life.. I'd lost everything. When
she finally disappeared from my view, I covered my face with my hands and began to cry. I couldn't just let this end
like this.. I wiped my eyes and stood up. I was going to get (name) back, not matter what. I sprinted out the door after
her.

I saw her waiting, suitcase in hand, for the next bus. I ran to her, struggling to keep my footing all the while,
shouting her name. I cut through the street without even a second glance and continued to sprint towards her. She
turned to me slowly, her face shifting to an expression of horror as she dropped everything and bolted towards my
direction. I heard blaring music and spinning tires as I stopped and turned, realizing yet another stupid mistake I
had made. I saw the headlights flash, completely blinding me as I waited for the impact. I felt a sharp shove at my
shoulder as I flew out of the direction of the lights and rolled on the hard cement out of the way of danger. I looked up
just as I witnessed what happened next. (Name) pushed me out of the way and took the full blow herself as the car
came to a screeching halt. I heard the horrific sounds of metal to flesh and bones crunching as she landed a few feet
back on the cement.

I scrambled to my feet to reach her, a crumbled mess of flesh and blood, as she lay contorted in pain. I grabbed her
hand as the tears began to fall again, harder than any other time ever before. I gently cupped her torn cheek as my
tears stained it, blurring the blood. Her eyes fluttered and she smiled slightly. I could see the pain in each small
movement she tried to make.
"Why?!" I blurted. "Why would you do that, bella?!"
She managed a breath just long enough to tell me exactly what I needed to hear. "I will always love you, Roma. Live..
For me."
The last words came out in just a sputter. My eyes widened as she closed her eyes and fell limp in my arms. I clutched
her tightly to me. "No! Bella! You can't leave me! I need you.. I love you! Ti amo!" I cried out loudly.
I held her cold hand, and sobbed into her lifeless body as I heard sirens in the distance.
